A status yellow snow and ice warning has been issued for Waterford.
Met Eireann is forecasting scattered hail and snow showers today with some accumulations in places and icy stretches on untreated surfaces.
The alert covers the east of the country and stretches from Waterford to Monaghan. It will be in place until 9.00 pm tonight.
A similar warning will be in effect in Waterford again tomorrow, this time Munster, Leinster and Connacht will be included. Snow accumulations of up to 5cm are predicted in some areas, however, it will be higher over the mountains.
Michael Kelly from Waterford Weather says the snow will most likely hit the county on Thursday afternoon. He told WLR the front has been delayed by a few hours and would most likely hit in the afternoon and last for 9 or 10 hours!
Michael says there's currently a yellow weather warning in place but he wouldn't be surprised if Met Eireann didn't update it to an orange warning. He is expecting five to eight centimetres to fall here especially at the foothills of the Comeragh.
On Friday, the snow will transition to sleet and rain before wetter and milder conditions return for the weekend. (Listen to Michael's conversation with Damien Tiernan below).

Brian Farrell is from the Road Safety Authority
"Visibility can be greatly reduced if there is heavy snowfall, it's important that you turn on your dipped headlights and fog lights if visibility is reduced.
"Critically, don't drive on the tail lights of the vehicle in front, this can give you a false sense of security and you could end up driving too close. When you have to break you could have a rear-end crash on your hands."
Take caution on essential journeys, especially on secondary routes, in housing estates and at sheltered locations, where ice may be lingering this morning.
Warning now in place for 10 eastern counties until tonight, with snow showers possible.
