Debbie O Rourke, LGBT community spokesperson with Pride of Deise, gives her reaction to the news that a scheduled talk by evangelical speaker on chastity, Jason Evert, which had been due to take place in The tower Hotel in Waterford, has been cancelled.
Jason Evert is a Catholic author and speaker from the US who has controversially referred to homosexuality as "disordered". He is co-founder, along with his wife Crystalina, of The Chastity Project, an organisation that promotes chastity.
He was due to give talks this week in Dublin and Waterford, however following a backlash from a number of organisations, including representatives of the LGBT community, both talks have been cancelled.
