On My Farming Week, Kieran O’Connor will be putting the boots on and visiting five of our most innovative and progressive farms.

O’Reilly’s beef farm and family butcher in Kilmacthomas, Denn’s tillage and dairy farm in Cappoquin, the Buck family’s strawberry farm in Clonea, Kiersey’s dairy farm in Kilmacthomas and Phelan’s beef and tillage farm in Fenor.

Monday September 14th - O’Rielly’s Beef Farm and Butcher in Kilmacthomas

Kieran O’Connor meets the O’Rielly brothers Pa and Joe, who run a very successful beef farm and family butcher’s business in Kilmacthomas. The O’Rielly brothers are farming land that’s been in the family for generations as has their butchers’ shop in the village.

Tuesday September 15th - Denn’s Tillage and Dairy Farm in Cappoquin

Kieran meets Kathleen Denn on her family's Dairy and Tillage farm in Cappoquin. Kathleen who also works in a busy veterinary practice runs the farm with her father Sham.

Wednesday September 16th - Buck’s Strawberry Farm in Clonea

Bucks in Clonea are among the country’s biggest Strawberry growers. Kieran meets Michael Buck and his son Diarmuid who with Margaret Buck run one of the best fruit farms, Glen Fruits, in Ireland and supply many of Ireland's major supermarkets.

Thursday September 17th - Kiersey’s Dairy Farm in Kilmacthomas

Kieran visits the Kiersey family farm in Kilmacthomas where he meets Kevin, daughter Miriam and nephew Ivan who run two herds and a successful artisan Ice Cream business, Freezin' Friesian.

Friday September 18th - Phelan’s Beef and Tillage Farm in Fenor

My Farming week finishes when Kieran O’Connor meets Edmond Phelan on his Beef and Tillage enterprise in Fenor, Tramore. Edmond is a successful Beef Farmer and is National President of the Irish Cattle and Sheep owners Association (ICSA).
