Is it Safe to Take a Foreign Holiday? - Deise Today Tuesday 30th June

Yesterday the Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan warned potential holidaymakers to think twice about foreign trips as a number of clusters of travel-related infections have already erupted. On the show today Maria McCann speaks to Sean Power of Harvey Travel about booking a foreign holiday.

Last night was the first night that pubs were open. Maria speaks to Jim 'Flash' Gordon, owner of Oskars and Revolution bars about being back in business.

A petition has been set up to get the promenade in Tramore pedestrianised. Maria hears from Afra Cronin from the Tramore Eco Group about the proposal.

Former school principal Janet Twigg talks to Maria about the impact the closing of schools has had on children and how schools are now preparing to re-open in September.

And Denis McCarthy, Director of the Cappoquin Regeneration Company tells Maria about the 1.2 million euro fund that was recently awarded to the West Waterford town. The primary objectives of the project include developing the potential of the River Blackwater and improving the capacity of the town centre.

The price of property in Waterford has remained unchanged over the past 3 months despite Covid-19 according to a new survey. Deirdre Phelan from Property Partners tells Maria McCann that there is movement in the market in Waterford, particularly in rentals.

Maria also speaks to John Windle the manager of WIT Arena which re-opened yesterday.

Cinemas are another business that has re-opened even though no new movies are being released. Maria speaks to Brian Griffin who spent the entire day at the cinema yesterday.
