How unusual are these storms for this time of year? Deise Today Tuesday 25th August

Waterford was hit once again with a status yellow rainfall overnight as Storm Francis reached us. This is the second such storm in under a week. On the show today Damien Tiernan speaks to Cathal Nolan, climate scientist and founder of Irelands Weather Channel, and he asks him how unusual this type of weather is for the month of August.

We also look at the continued fall out of the political crisis surrounding golfgate.

Public relations practitioner Paul Allen from Paul Allen and Associates PR gives an overview of the political situation.

Damien hears from people who are hurt and furious by the political goings-on of the last few days, including Teddy Grant from Avondale, who lost his wife in the early days of the pandemic and also Bernadette Ryan who has had to make sacrifices this year because of an underlying condition.

We also get reaction from WIT Law lecturer Dr Jennifer Kavanagh.

And we hear how Ard Scoil Na Mara in Tramore is preparing to re-open next week.

There was great news for Cappoquin native Jayson Molumby as he got his first senior Republic of Ireland call up for next month's UEFA Nations League games. The 21 year old Brighton midfielder is on the squad to play Bulgaria on September 3rd, the first game under new manager Stephen Kenny. Damien speaks to his uncle Martin Reddy about the news.
