How are Waterford students coping with Leaving Cert postponement - Deise Today Wednesday 15th April

Last week the Minister for Education Joe McHugh announced that the Leaving Certificate will now not take place until either late July or early August. How has this impacted on Waterford students studying for this important exam? On the show today Damien Tiernan speaks to a number of students and teachers about their reaction. Firstly he hears from Dara Baumann from St Augustines in Dungarvan and Daisy Drohan from The Ursline.

It was also announced yesterday that Fianna Fail and Fine Gael are in the final stages of forming a government together, with the exclusion of the the other big party in this years election, Sinn Fein. We hear from Waterford Sinn Fein TD David Cullinanae on this.

Driving instructor Kieran Kennedy tells Damien about an initiative he has devised to help drivers avoid pedestrians walking onto the road while adhering to social distancing.

And Damien hears from more Waterford residents coping with the Covid 19 restrictions, this time from Alphonsus Road.

In part two we hear from Saorla Roger from Yeats College who has written to the Taoiseach about the Leaving Cert predicament. Also Conor McCluskey from De La Salle College who is shocked and outraged at the recent decision to move the Leaving Cert dates and Denis Ring, principal of Blackwater Community College in Lismore.
