Hollywood star promises to visit Ballymacarbery National School - Deise Today Wednesday 8th July

On today's show Damien speaks to the principal of Ballynacarbery National School, Michael O Ryan, about a graduation video that they have shared on their Facebook page for the students of sixth class. The video includes messages from some big names, such as former soccer player Niall Quinn and none other than Hollywood actor Mark Wahlberg! Wahlberg attends the Church of The Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills where the pastor, Fr O Ryan, is an uncle of Principal O Ryan.

Damien also hears from Finn Robertson, a Leaving Cert student from Abbeyside, who has been told he is not eligible for predicted grades for one of the subjects he studied because he was self-taught and did not have a tutor. 17 year old Finn studied five subjects in school and taught himself higher-level business and higher-level politics because the two subjects were not available at his school. He will receive a predicted grade for business because he attended grinds in January and February, but he has been told he will not receive an estimated grade for politics as he had not begun private tuition for the subject. He will protest the matter in The Dail next week.

Damien visits Waterford Suir Valley Railway and speaks to Maria Kyte, as well as visitors from Meath and Kerry.

Darragh Connolly, president of the Irish Pharmaceutical Union chats about D.U.M.P. (Dispose of Unused Medicines Properly) an initiative to encourage people to dispose of their unused or out-of-date medicines safely.

In the second part of the show Damien speaks to Michael Drislane, principal of Colaite na Rinne regarding  the impact on An Rinn from not having Irish courses over the summer.
