Government Plans to Re-open Schools - Deise Today Monday 27th July

A funding package costing around €300 million is expected to be announced later today as part of plans to reopen schools next month.  Some of the measures include enhanced cleaning regimes, investment in school buildings and more substitute teachers. On today's show Damien Tiernan speaks to Daniel McConnell, Political Editor with the Irish Examiner.

We also hear from Modeligo woman Geraldine Buckley who will be waiting 4 years for treatment for extreme eczema after the health service reverted to a public private split.

Also on the show sports presenter Nigel Kelly takes a look back at the weekend of sport including the Waterford club hurling action. And he looks ahead to the final day of the premiere league.

A recent EPA report on Domestic Waste Water Treatment Systems (DWWTS), more commonly known as septic tanks showed that Waterford was rated within the bottom six of Local Authority Areas when considering the rate of DWWTS failures fixed, with only 54% of failures detected remedied over the six year period of the report. Damien speaks to Noel Byrne, Senior inspector in the office of environmental enforcement in the EPA as well as Green Party councillor Susan Gallagher.

Waterford Fine Gael senator John Cummins has an update on meetings between WIT and IT Carlow on progressing the TUSE.
