It was revealed overnight that an Oireachtas Golf Society event at the Station house hotel in Clifden in Galway on Wednesday night was attended by 80 people including government ministers, senators, judges and members of the media. It is reported that the event breached health guidelines and Covid-19 restrictions and it comes just one day after the government introduced revised restrictions on numbers at gatherings. Agriculture minister Dara Calleary has resigned, as has Leas Cathaoirleach of the Seanad Jerry Buttimer. The event was attended by Waterford Fine Gael senator John Cummins.
