Waterford city and county council have made amendments to their bye-laws to restrict buskers (including preachers or any performers) from using amplifiers or speakers without a licence. The new law states: “No person shall broadcast any vocal or instrumental performance (including speeches, preaching and like performances) using amplified sound in any public realm area except with the permission, in writing, of the Council and in accordance with the terms and conditions of such permission.” On Deise Today Damien gets reaction from Tadhg Williams, who runs BuskAid to these new laws.
