On Monday's 'Déise Today', Damien was talking to Claire McGowran who is the editor of 'OneFabDay.com Ireland' which is a popular wedding website. Claire was on the show this morning to discuss the recent trend being adopted for girls shopping for their communion dresses!
It is reported that some stores including Arnotts which are giving the girls the 'experience' for girls choosing outfits for the big day- completely with photo-friendly podiums!
Claire says that this is very similar to the "Say yes to the dress experience" and believes that this may add additional pressure onto the parents and the child to try and get the "the one" and that maybe the fun will get taking away and this will just "add pressure".
She says that this experience might kill a child's confidence if a child like's a dress and walks out into this 'say yes to the dress' experience and if the reaction isn't what they expect this might hurt them.
Damien asked then Claire about the cost that comes with weddings now and especially the price that comes with the dresses. The average spend is said to be around "30,000" euro for the entire wedding. The brides look and dress then go from "1,500 to 3,000" euro as well.
