Dr Brian Tobin, Law lecturer in NUI Galway talks about how Irish law treats unmarried fathers. Brian says the enactment of parts of the Children and Family Relationships Act recently, which Sinead Flynn Fogarty spoke about on the show yesterday, actually serves to discriminate against the unmarried father by denying him automatic guardianship at birth because of the lack of a formalised relationship status with the mother.
