A WEST Waterford based councillor has said it's an "absolute disgrace" there is no mass vaccination centre outside of Waterford city.
WIT Arena at Carriganore is the sole Waterford location as per a list of 37 Covid-19 vaccination centres nationwide published by the health minister yesterday.
However, Tallow-based Labour councillor, John Pratt, said there should be a centre in the west of the county as well as the city - and it's an "absolute disgrace" that isn't the case.
"Just look at the amount of centres other counties have, and then Wexford has its centre in Enniscorthy " he told Damien Tiernan on Deise Today.
"We must remember Waterford city is not in the center of the county," he added.
John Pratt, who is a former mayor of the city and county, said he would have particular concerns for elderly people who would have mobility issues.
He said there was an anomaly already regarding such people who can't come out of their home and might not be able for a journey to a centre.
He added that at the moment too, people can't travel outside of their 5km and if this restriction remained in situ for some time, this might be problematic too.
