On Friday, 23rd of February, the annual Waterford Business Awards will take place in Faithlegg House Hotel in association with Waterford Chamber, WLR and Waterford City and County Council , celebrating the best in Waterford business across 10 categories. In each category, 3 local businesses are shortlisted, and every day on WLR in the lead up to the gala awards ceremony, we’ll be putting the spotlight on a different awards category:
Today it’s Tourism, Leisure and Hospitality sponsored by Waterford Airport and the shortlist is:
GRANVILLE HOTEL
From the moment you walk through the doors of the four star Granville Hotel in Waterford’s city centre you will experience the professionalism, hospitality and caring that is the essence of this historic hotel. The boutique style hotel was purchased in 1979 by Liam and Ann Cusack who restored it to its former gracious grandeur, combining modern comfort with old world charm and elegance. Today the Cusack family second generation Fiona, Jackie and Sandra, along with the Granville team, continue to uphold the Granville traditions of comfort, service, caring and hospitality.
KING OF THE VIKINGS
In May 2017 Waterford City and County Council in collaboration with Failte Ireland – Ireland’s Ancient East and Waterford Treasures launched on the market the world’s first Virtual Reality Viking experience. An imaginative marriage of old fashioned story telling by costumed re-enactors and cutting edge technology developed here in Waterford by the highly successful team at Emagine has taken the tourism industry in Ireland by storm. In the first four months of operation the King of the Viking experience attracted over 10,000 additional fee paying visitors into Waterford’s Viking Triangle and more particularly into Bailey’s New Street.
LA BOHEME
A firm favourite in Waterford and billed as one of the most romantic restaurants in Ireland, La Boheme, a fine dining French/European Restaurant, is owned and run by Christine and Eric Théze. Presenting quality food at a competitive price with locally sourced produce and excellent customer service, the past 12 years has seen the establishment go from strength to strength. Along with exceptional cuisine, the venue is ideal for weddings and corporate functions or why not check out one of their themed nights or food and wine tasting evenings.
