Choirs from four Waterford schools performed at a magical night of music at Sacred Heart Church Waterford in aid of Saint Vincent De Paul, raising a total of €4,596.40 for the local charity.

Students from St Ursula's primary school, Ballygunnar NS, De La Salle College, Waterpark primary school, and SETU Girl's choir performed a variety of Christmas songs, while soloist Caoimhe Scanlon performed Somewhere Only We Know. The night finished off fittingly with a rendition of O Holy Night, led by soprano Lyndsey Penkert. Dymphna Nugent from The Big Breakfast Blaa on WLR did a fabulous job of MCing on the night and chatted to all the kids.

A huge thanks to all involved including the musical directors of the 4 schools, Lyndsey Penkert and Caoimhe Scanlon for performing, Wayne Brown for organising, Utopia flowers for the flowers, Fr Chestnut for allowing us to use the church and Ray Colclough for ushering duties.

The event was recorded by Dean Robinson on sound and will be re-played on air on Christmas Eve at 7pm and on Christmas Day at 5pm.
