Perched atop a cliff above the stunning Copper Coast UNESCO Global Geopark, the palatial Annestown House, where Jackie Kennedy once visited, is steeped in history.
The rambling home is actually two combined, while the majority of it was constructed in 1820, the first, constructed in 1770, was the seat of the well connected Palliser family, who paternally descended from the Earl of Charleville. However, its most famous "guest" no doubt, was the wife of JFK himself, Jackie Kennedy, who popped by to use the bathroom while visiting the area in 1968. Interestingly, the bathroom has been kept as it was since then.
Until they moved to their new location at Ballyscanlon, the property served as the headquarters for the neighbourhood Copper Coast Scouts, where "120 kids used to camp and surf." The owner next underwent renovations on the home's ground level, where his daughter hosted a celebration for her recent wedding.
The house consists of the barn converted to a bar, old stables, and the former location of both a tennis court and croquet lawn leading down to the sprawling golden coast below all for the cool price of €2.5million.
