John 'Jackson' Kiely is enjoying his new role as Waterford Masters football manager.
The Kilrossanty man led the Déise juniors to All Ireland glory in 1999 and 2004 and managed the senior team from 2005 to 2009.
The Masters competition caters for players over 40 years of age. The Waterford team contains former county players Gary Hurney, Wayne Hennessy and John Coffey. They have faced Kerry, London, Cork and Limerick so far in this year's championship.
"I said to the lads after the Cork game 'I thought I was finished with this thing!' I really enjoyed it. You couldn't be involved with a better bunch of fellas. When the ball is thrown in, it's serious enough. You have fellas arguing and fighting! It's not as friendly as you might think! The competitive spirit is still there with all those lads."
John Kiely will preview this weekend's All Ireland Football Quarter Finals on Lár Na Páirce from 6.10.
