The task was tough before the teams came onto the court with the away side missing three starters.

Wolves outscored the Vikings 99 - 55 to deny a Waterford double on the first day of the season.

Vikings are home to Scott’s Lakers Killarney next Saturday and Kavanagh will be looking for a much better performance in their first home game.

The Wildcats meanwhile will be on the road this weekend. They make the trip to Fr Matthews of Cork on Saturday for round 2.
