Change is not always a good thing, but the most recent change at Waterford FC has been a positive move for the club.
Ian Morris and the Blues parted company three weeks ago, with the side stagnating in their performances, but since then it's been an upward trajectory.
With a small sample size of games to do any analysis, it's hard to predict will the positive curve continue to move in the right direction, but as it stands the team seems to be back on track.
Two games, two wins, and two clean sheets make for pleasant reading and it must be noted that it's been achieved with two local lads at the helm. David Breen and Gary Hunt were part of Morris' backroom team at the start of the season and with the Dublin native now looking for a new gig, the two Waterford men have taken over with relative ease.
Both Wexford and Athlone have been dispatched these past two weeks moving the Blues back up to third in the table, albeit with a significant gap now forming between them and the table toppers. Cork are streaking away on 32 points, with Galway biting at their heels just three points off.
Speaking to WLR Sport, Hunt said that it's been a wholely positive experience so far as both he and Breen get their first taste of management, "I think we have to be real in the fact that we were part of the previous managers coaching staff, and I felt that it was good but we just didn't get the results. We've gone and got two wins out of two and we've two clean sheets which is as many as we've had in the previous ten games".
Keeping a clean sheet has proven to be a real challenge for Waterford since the first division season began. In 12 outings they've only managed it on four occasions and two of those games were the last two. If one was to look for a positive ahead of tonight's fixture, the first clean sheet of the season came against tonight's opposition Bray when they came to the RSC.
When the sides last played it was Britton who got the winner in the first half. A Richard Taylor cross from the left flank arrived in the box, with Bray's poor defending allowing Britton to pounce.
While Bray are holding fort near the bottom end of the table, Hunt points out that their goal difference is not quite as it seems.
"If you look at the table they've played thirteen and conceded 18 goals but six of those have come in their first game against Cork. Ultimately, they've 12 in 12 conceded, so they're not shipping lots of goals for a team that are down the bottom end of the table, so we need to be careful as these will be well organised. They know their roles and they've got experienced players."
