Waterford boss Pat Sullivan is in favour of the LGFA joining forces with the GAA.
90 per cent of GAA delegates voted to prioritise integration with the LGFA and the Camogie Association at Congress last weekend. Galway are tabling a similar motion at LGFA Congress on Saturday.
Sullivan says that facilities must be a priority in any discussions. "For matches, you'll get a venue if it's not being used by the hurlers of footballers. We've been very lucky. With the Meath game, Dungarvan and Tony Ryan let us play in Dungarvan after Fraher Field wasn't available. That shows that there are people out there that really want to promote and help ladies football. The way that both teams were looked after in Dungarvan proves that there are people that want the three to come together and make it work. We have struggled to get venues to train in. You're training on an astro turf or training behind a goal in a field. To get onto a field, outside of the core clubs that really want to help you, we're told 'we can't really help you.' That's something that needs to change. That's something that will change with the three organisations coming together. That needs to be part of the actual roadmap that's going to be developed. 'How are we going to break down these barriers?' 'How are we going to give them equal rights for what they need to get?'
