Former Déise boss Michael Ryan thinks that Waterford's Munster championship games against Limerick and Clare should be played in Semple Stadium.

Walsh Park won't be available to Davy Fitzgerald's side due to construction work at the city venue.

"This is going to be very interesting now. We've heard a lot of people say that Walsh Park doesn't suit Waterford and they're much better off playing in Thurles. That's going to be put to the test now. I always think that a home venue has to be worth a few points. It is a little bit of a disadvantage. A lot will depend on where those games are played. I would like to see us play those two games in Thurles. We're going to be playing Tipp there anyway. We play really well in Thurles. It is a setback but we have to be positive about it now, there's no point dwelling on it."

Ryan will manage the Nire footballers and the Fourmilewater hurlers in 2023. He is also a selector with the Waterford Under 20 hurlers. "I enjoy every minute of it. As a matter of fact, I was bored stiff around Christmas! There were a lot of nights with nothing to do!"
