Waterford native, Craig Breen, has been killed in an accident in Croatia today (Thursday, April 13th).
The 33-year-old was preparing for Croatia Rally when his car left the road between Stari Golubovac and Lobora.
Breen was preparing for his second outing of the WRC season as Hyundai's third driver after returning in February. He had a second place finish in a strong field at Rally Sweeden in what was his joint-best WRC finish ever, to go with other second places he secured in four races between 2020 and 2021.

Craig was a charismatic character who had an immense passion for the Sport and always gave it 110%.
He was crowned World champion in 2012 at the WRC Super 2000 Championship.
The Sliverue native also recorded unforgettable wins in the Monte Carlo Rally, Wales Rally GB, Rally France and the Rally of Spain.
When you think of #Waterford sportspeople who've made a impact on the world stage this century, Craig Breen absolutely belongs with the likes of John O'Shea, Henry de Bromhead, Seamus Power and Thomas Barr. It's just awful.
