WIT Waterford Wildcats will clinch third spot in the Women's Super League if they win against Killester at home on Saturday. The local side overcame Team Garvey's St. Mary's by 71 points to 49 last night which puts them in a strong position heading into tomorrow's clash at the Mercy gym (6pm tip-off).

Head coach Tommy O’Mahony said: “We have two tough games to finish the season off, Castleisland have proved to be formidable outfit for any team they play. They have outstanding athletes and to get a win in Castleisland you will need to earn it. On Saturday we play Killester, who have just come off beating Brunell easily, while scoring 120 points. For us to achieve anything out of this game, we will need to be tuned in for the full game, any lapse in concentration will be punished severely. They have multiple defences, as well as threats all over the court, which makes them are hard team to beat. We had a good performance last weekend and we are hoping to build on this to lay a good foundation for the playoffs.”
Speaking ahead of the contest with WIT Waterford Wildcats, Killester manager Karl Kilbride highlighted his respect for the opponents. “Saturday is going to be a really tough one. It’s so difficult to get a win in the Mercy at the best of times. But Waterford have had an excellent year and will be looking to cause us lots of problems, particularly inside. They are big, super athletic and have weapons all over the floor. Sarah Hickey is having one of the most successful years an underage player has ever had and we know what a handful she’s going to be this weekend. While we had an excellent performance away last weekend and will be going in with confidence high; we know confidence won’t be enough. We need to be able to execute, particularly at the defensive end. We've been excellent in practice the last couple of weeks and are hoping for more of the same this week. We played a double overtime classic against them earlier in the season and if that’s anything to go by, especially with third place on the line and home court advantage in the playoffs, it should be another cracker this weekend.”
If DCU Mercy finish level on points with Killester they will move up to fourth. Mark Ingle’s side would need a win at Fr. Mathews on Saturday and hope Killester lose at WIT Waterford Wildcats.
