The Waterford footballers go in search of their first win of the season when they travel to South East neighbours Wexford this afternoon.

Déise attacker Conor Murray says that Wexford Park has been a happy hunting ground in recent years:

"Definitely. The only championship win I've had came down in Wexford Park a few years ago.

"Wexford are coming at us well. They've had some good performances in the League this year and they put it up to Dublin last year in the championship so, we're under no illusions.

"There's no doubt that we've had happy enough hunting ground [in Wexford Park] the last few years for whatever reason."

As it stands, the Déise are bottom of Division 4, with one point from four games.

Conor says a win would do wonders for morale in the camp:

"That's the drum Ephie's [Fitzgerald] been beating since he came in - confidence. And it's something that's lacking in the squad I suppose, that self-belief that we are good enough and one win would be invaluable.

"I've seen it over the last few years, no matter when it is in the League. And we can't get promoted now, we know that, but it still doesn't matter.

"One win can really just give the whole thing a lift. It's completely different going into training."

And Conor says that new manager, Ephie, has made a big impression so far:

"He's a breath of fresh air - him and Peter. It's been really, really enjoyable.

"It's been a step-up from the last year or two. They're really pushing us and challenging us to get the most out of ourselves.

"He's really putting a focus on the fact that this isn't a one year thing, this is two or three years. And that's kind of encouraging the lads to stick at it."

Throw in is at 2 o'clock. Tomás McCarthy will have updates on WLR throughout the afternoon.
