In a tweet, Paddy Barrett paid tribute to the "players, fans and everyone at Dundalk FC for the past few years."
He raised some of the highlights he achieved while at the club, including an appearance in the Champions League qualifiers and said it's "a great club with great people," adding that it's "time for change."

It could pave the way for Barret to make the move to his hometown club permanent ahead of next season's return to the Airtricity League Premier Division, however it's believed he has attracted interest from other clubs and could be tempted by a move overseas.
