The Candystripes won their opening game against UCD but lost away to Shamrock Rovers on Friday last.
The Blues' suffered a home loss to Rovers in their opening contest, but turned on the style to defeat Cork City in Turner's Cross on Friday.
That performance and result will give Alan Reynolds’ team a lot of confidence ahead of this evening's game.
Nothing's to be taken for granted though, as Derry will be keen to bounce back from their recent loss.
Speaking ahead of this evening's game, manager Alan Reynolds said, the result against Cork was fantastic but the performance and display from the team as a whole was what stood out.
"We deserved it," he said, "and it could have been more. We were really good and if we were more clinical in front of goal we could have scored more."
