Two Waterford golfers compete in this week's European Tour at Portmarnock

The European Tour makes it way to Ireland this week with the staging of the Irish Challenge at Portmarnock links from Thursday to Sunday.

Waterford will have two competitors in the field with West Waterford’s Gary Hurley and Tramore’s Robin Dawson in action in the Challenge Tour event.

Dawson starts his campaign at 8.50am with Enrico Di Nitto of Italy who led the Northern Ireland Open after the first round last September and Jeremy Freiburghaus of Switzerland while Hurley is off at 12.10 with Jeppe Kristian Anderson of Denmark and France’s Matthieu Fenasse.

 In all there are 28 Irish in the 153 strong field which will be held behind closed doors.
