Tramore are just one match away from the All Ireland final of the Jimmy Bruen Trophy after a dramatic 3-2 win over Carrick On Shannon yesterday in Belfast.
They meet Gowran Park in this morning’s semi final - their first Jimmy Bruen national semi final in their 127 year history.

Playing their part significantly in Tramore’s 3-2 win over Carrick-on-Shannon was the grandad – grandson pairing of John O’Brien and James Patrick (JP) O’Brien who fought back from being 2 down with 4 to play to win on the 18th.
‘This man [JP] hit a brilliant shot to 3-feet in the end to win it for us,’ beamed Grandad John. ‘We played steady more than great, but we hung in there.
‘It’s about keeping going, you never give up. For a long time we looked in trouble but we never gave up.’
‘Class’ is how JP describes having played a summer of competitive golf with his grandad, who is over 60-years his elder.
‘He said to me on the 12th tee box after we lost the 11th ‘it doesn’t matter what we do now on the next 2 holes, it’s what we do on the last 3 or 4 that matters,’ and that’s what happened.’
‘A small bit of experience helps,’ replied John with a smile.
Women's Challenge Cup
Meanwhile Waterford and Waterford Castle are in action in the AIG Women’s Challenge Cup at the same venue.
Gort are the opposition for Waterford Castle while Waterford will take on Ballyneety.
Should both sides progress they will face each other in Thursday’s Semi final
Wednesday will see the semi-finals of the AIG Jimmy Bruen and AIG Minor Cup completed in addition to the AIG Challenge Cup quarter-final matches.
