Waterford’s Thomas Barr has qualified for the semi-finals of the men’s 400m hurdles at the European Athletics Championships in Munich having won his heat this morning.

Barr came first in his heat in a time of 49.49 seconds, just seeing off Dutchman Ramsey Angela.

He now progresses to tomorrow morning’s semi-finals – which will consist of the top three from each of the three heats as well as the fastest losing times.
