Meath All Ireland winner Paul Shankey is set to become the new Waterford senior football manager.
The Portlaw clubman will be put forward for ratification at the next county board meeting. During his playing days, Shankey won All Ireland minor, Under 21 and senior medals with the Royal County.
He achieved county intermediate success with Portlaw in 2016 and subsequently managed the team at senior level. Shankey will be assisted by coach Mikey Cronin from Carrick Davins. Cronin has been recommended as Under 20 manager. Two year terms will be proposed for both positions.
The Déise have been without a bainsteoir since Ephie Fitzgerald stepped down on August 26 after two years in charge.
