Seamus Power hit eight of fourteen fairways and fifteen of eighteen greens in regulation for his opening round of the Wyndham Championship.

That left him 3 under for the tournament and in a tie for 16th; Brian Stuard was in 1st at 7 under. The other Irish interest – Ryder Cup Captain Padraig Harrington – is one better than Seamus on 4 under, and just four shots off the lead.

On the par-5 15th, Power’s approach shot set him up for the birdie, moving the Tooranena man to 1 under for the round.

On the par-4 17th, a 129-yard approach to 3-feet set him up for the birdie again, and subsequently, he picked up another score to move to two under.

A first dropped shot came on the 507-yard par-4 18th. He got to the green in 3 but then needed a two-putt to finish.

After a drive to the rough on the 428-yard par-4 fourth hole, Power had a 165-yard approach shot, setting himself up for the birdie, having handed a score back on the 18th, he reclaimed the shot here and moved back to 2 under.

On the 529-yard par-5 fifth hole, the West Waterford native reached the green in 3 and sunk a 6-foot putt for birdie moving him to 3-under for the round.
