Alan Reynolds is back at the RSC.
The news that had been reported prior to the weekend has now been confirmed by the club, with the Tramore native to take up a role as assistant head coach to Keith Long for the first division campaign.
This will be Reynolds's fourth spell on the sideline at the Regional Sports Centre, having most recently managed the club to promotion from the first division in 2018, before securing 4th place in the premier division the following season.
He left the club amid the covid-19 pandemic postponed League of Ireland season in 2020.
Since leaving Waterford, Reynolds has built an impressive CV, working as an assistant coach at Dundalk, Shelbourne, Derry City and the Republic Of Ireland U21s - a role he still holds under Jim Crawford.
Speaking to the club website, head coach Long said he is "delighted Alan has joined the club. He’s a coach with fantastic experience from playing and management and will be a big asset to the club."
“He’s a local guy and it’s brilliant that we can bring him back to his local club to help us achieve our goals this season.”
The club has told WLR Sport that "there are no changes at present to any staff at the club" as regards the other backroom team members already in place.
Speaking to the media last week, Long said that he had been given a "blank canvas" by the owners when it came to picking his backroom team.
He expressed the desire to take some time to get the lay of the land before making any decisions on who would be coming in, and whether anybody else was going to move on from the club.
