A jump up the leaderboard thanks to a second round of 69 at Kapalua has Seamus Power well-placed for a weekend challenge at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
The Touraneena man was -4 on Friday in Hawaii, dropping just one shot on the 14th. He made five birdies to counteract the slip up on 14 and will likely be hopiong for further improvements this evening when he heads for round three. "A kind of a sloppy one," he said when talking about his Thursday outing, continuing to say that he hoped he hadn't shot himself out of the Tournament.
With a seven-shot deficit to the leader Colin Morikawa, Seamus has definitely not shot himself out of it but he does have some work to do on Saturday if he is to challenge to for a top-end of the leaderboard standing come Sunday.
The American Morikawa meanwhile was irresistible. Now working with a Donegal native putting coach in Stephen Sweeney, the former US Open Champion shot seven sup-par holes to take the sole lead in the Aloha State.
This evening, Seamus has a slightly earlier tee time. He heads back to the course with a share of 12th after 36 holes and today he plays with former Masters Champions Hideki Matsuyama when they tee off at 7.30 pm Irish time.
