Waterford FC 2

Wexford FC 0

Waterford FC produced arguably their best performance of the season in this local derby with a smashing 2 nil win. Both goals were scored by the outstanding Phoenix Patterson. The Scotsman was a bundle of energy all night.

The 1st came on 11 minutes when he moved the ball across the edge of the box before he unleashed a bullet off his right foot, Alex Moody had no chance in the Wexford goal.

In the 29th minute, Wexford had a penalty shout when it appeared that Conor Barry’s foot was taken from under him when he was about to shoot but the referee ignored the home team's appeals.

The 2nd Patterson strike came in the 68th minute when Shane Griffin was taken down 10 metres outside the box. Patterson stepped up and curled the ball brilliantly past Moody’s right to score.

Waterford controlled the remainder of the game although Wexford did have chances. Louis Britton would have made it 3 but for a brilliant save on the double from Moody with 10 minutes remaining.
