Nine Waterford hopefuls for Camogie All-Stars

The Camogie All-Stars Awards take place this evening in Croke Park, with Waterford in the mix with a record number of nominees.

Nine players have been shortlisted for the annual awards recognizing the best and brightest in the GAA.

The Déíse - who lost their manager Sean Power this week - made it to the All-Ireland final at GAA HQ during the summer, ultimately losing to Cork.

Away from the Championship, they secured Division 1A camogie for next spring, beating Wexford in the 1B final.

With only two losses on their record in 2023, Power's side claimed a maiden senior win over Cork in the Munster Championship, before their rematch in the final.

They also won a semi-final for the ages coming from behind to beat Tipperary at Nowlan Park.

The Waterford players nominated are Annie Fitzgerald, Beth Carton, Brianna O’Regan, Keeley Corbett Barry, Lorraine Bray, Mairead O’Brien, Niamh Rockett, Orla Hickey and Vikki Falconer.

While star forward Carton is in the running for the biggest award of the night. She's in three-person shortlist for Camogie player of the year along with All-Ireland hattrick scorer Amy O Connor as well as fellow Rebellette Saoirse McCarthy.
