Sadhbh Hallinan palmed to the net on 20 minutes with a crucial goal - which gave Waterford plenty of momentum as they lead 1-8 to 0-3 at the break, with Katie Murray and McGregor also to the fore in the early exchanges.

The Deise kicked on in the second period with scores from Murray and McGregor, before two fantastic scores from Kellyann Hogan and Kate McGrath further exemplified Waterford's dominance on the day.

Brid McMaugh made a superb cameo from the bench and kicked over three successive scores to rubber-stamp a vital victory for Waterford ladies' football, before Emma Murray and Eve Power combined late on to certainly secure senior status.

Pat Sullivan's side remain senior, while Cavan have dropped to intermediate level for the year ahead.
