Déise hurlers Michael Kiely and Shane McNulty will miss the rest of the Munster championship through injury.
Kiely came off at half time in Sunday's loss to Cork with a leg injury and manager Davy Fitzgerald told WLR Sport that the Abbeyside man will be out for the last two rounds against Clare and Tipperary. "He is in for a san but we're pretty certain that it's going to be four to six weeks minimum. He got injured last Friday night at training, he had five stitches in his hand playing last Sunday which was a tough ordeal. We didn't know if he was going to make it or not but Michael is a tough lad. He missed the league through suspension and injury so he's just been unlucky."
McNulty suffered a setback last week. "Shane McNulty reinjured his leg last Monday night. It was broken, he was back and he went out doing a bit of work and it recurred again. Iarlaith Daly isn't far off being back. We're not complaining but we've had a few injuries, that's it. We'll get on with what we have."
Fitzgerald believes that his team can recover from a poor start to the Munster Championship. The Déise are bottom of the table after defeats to Cork and Limerick. "Listen, I don't really mind what people think. If we deserve a bit of stick, we deserve it. I really enjoy working with these lads and I'm going to stay working hard with them. We're going to stay with this process. Be it this year or next year, we're going to get it right. We will get this right. I believe in this bunch of boys, I really do."
