Junior Quitirna has left Waterford FC while he "addresses ongoing visa issues."

The club has issued a statement on the star midfielder, saying they are disappointed that he won't be available to the Blues for the early part of their First Division season.

The 22-year-old has joined Fleetwood Town, which is also owned by Andy Pilley, but has immediately headed out on loan to National League side, Altrincham FC, until the end of the season.

According to Waterford FC, the loan move was made to allow Quitirna game time while the issues are being resolved.

Quitirna was a crucial part of Waterford's success last season and earned a spot in the League of Ireland First Division 'Team of the Year' after helping to guide the Blues to a promotion play-off final against UCD back in November.

He has made 55 appearances for Waterford FC over the last two seasons, scoring 20 goals and assisting in 12.

The Blues' statement concludes by saying, "We are confident Junior will be able to return to the RSC in the future."
