Tramore native Jim Goodwin has been approached by Aberdeen to become the club's next manager.

Goodwin has been in charge of St. Mirren since 2019, and signed a new contract in February 2021.

Aberdeen sacked their manager Stephen Glass on Sunday and have identified Goodwin as the man they want to take over.

Jim Goodwin has got St. Mirren flying high in the Scottish Premiership table, where they lie in fifth - and are just two points off a Europa Conference League place.

Aberdeen's initial approach to speak to the Waterford man has been rejected as St. Mirren are insisting that a compensation package is agreed first.

It’s believed they would be seeking in the region of £250,000 should their manager leave for Pittodrie.
