Deirdre Fahey fought back from a serious quad bike accident in 2015 to line out for the Waterford senior camogie team last season.

The 2011 All Ireland junior winner spent three years out after suffering a horrific knee injury. "I grew up on a farm so I would be no stranger to getting up on a quad bike and going out after animals up on a mountain. Unfortunately, I went somewhere too steep and it flipped up over my head. My leg got caught under me and crushed it. I sustained a serious knee injury. It was a long process to get back."

She returned to the Déise squad in 2018 under Donal O'Rourke as they reached the All Ireland quarter finals. "Last year was my first time playing at senior level. It was a huge achievement for myself to get back to that level."

She was determined to pull on the Waterford jersey again. "It's very, very hard to walk away."
