Waterford will face Cavan in the ladies football relegation play-off on Saturday afternoon in Crettyard. It's the last chance for both counties to secure their senior status for 2024.

The Déise lost to Tipperary in a dramatic free taking competition last weekend and manager Pat Sullivan is expecting another tough challenge from the Breffni County. "It's going to be a battle. We're both in a situation we don't want to be in. We have to really face this head on. Looking at them over the year, very defensive unit and very strong in the tackle. We have to make sure that we keep that ball away from the tackle and use the pace we have in the squad. They were here this time last year and they fought and stayed up and put Westmeath down so they know what the battle is all about."

Karen McGrath, Laura Mulcahy and Lauren McGregor are injury worries for Waterford while dual star Annie Fitzgerald will line out with the camogie team in the All Ireland semi final against Tipperary. Sullivan was happy to allow Fitzgerald focus on the small ball. "I just took it out of her hands and said 'look, the camogie is the biggest prize.' We tried to change the game, it wasn't possible for Cavan to change to Sunday. We didn't want that to drag on. She has given us so much all year and we wish her the best of luck, hopefully she gets the result on Saturday, the same as us, and gets to Croke Park."

Throw is in at 2 o'clock on Saturday.
