Roanmore's first county intermediate football title was a special occasion for player manager Emmet O'Toole.

"When we won the junior, I said that was the pinnacle. Two years later, to turn around and win the intermediate, it was the stuff of dreams for me. I never thought it would happen. For that couple of seconds, after winning, it was just unreal to be honest with you. In 2010, we won the intermediate hurling and that was massive. To go and emulate that in the football, it was big."

The Sky Blues knuckled down to the big ball after losing the senior hurling semi final to Ballygunner. They have won all six intermediate games this season. "Every time we won, it brought more lads to the field and more lads to training," O'Toole explains. "After the first week or two, we started having 25 lads training away. Winning breeds more men coming along training! I'd say we're after getting 15 or 16 sessions in over the last eight weeks. We've definitely put a lot of effort in once we got over the disappointment of losing the hurling to Ballygunner."

Roanmore will take on Limerick champions Na Piarsaigh in the Munster intermediate football quarter final on Saturday in Kilmallock. Throw in is at 1.15.
