Ireland's hopes to host the Rugby World Cup in 2023 have been dealt a blow after South Africa was named as the preferred bidder.
An independent review for World Rugby saw Ireland take last place, with France a close second to South Africa.
Reacting to the news, the IRFU said it was disappointing, but vowed to compete to the final whistle.
Council members of World Rugby will vote for the host nation on November 15th.
