Waterford All Star Niamh Rockett has bounced back from career threatening knee injuries to become one of the top camogie players in the country.

She feared that her playing days were over in 2014. "I was told I wouldn't play again and I remember sitting down with the doctor in Santry in Dublin. I've only seen my dad cry a handful of times in my life and he cried beside me. It was a very dark day. I wouldn't wish that on any sports player."

Winning her first All Star in 2020 meant a lot. "My mam was so proud and my dad. It was always his dream to get to that stage and he said himself 'I was never good enough, I tried everything.' If I could give the All Star to him and put his name on it, I would."

Niamh Rockett will feature on The Sporting Life this evening on WLR after the 6 o'clock news.
