Gary Hurley is sitting on a share of 73rd after day one of the Ras al Khaimah Championship on the DP World Tour.
Starting from the back nine this morning, Hurley began life on the tour in a fashion he likely would have rathered to avoid.
His first hole saw him drop a shot for bogey on the par-4 10th. That negative was followed by further shots dropped on the 12th, 13th and 17th, but he did manage to compensate well with three birdies before making the turn.
Having put the back nine behind him, the 1st hole was an improvement with a birdie-3 moving him back to level par. For the remaining eight holes it was tit-for-tat for Hurley who dropped two more before picking them back up once again to finish on level par.
Later on Thursday afternoon, his West Waterford club mate Seamus Power returns for the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on the PGA Tour.
Seamus will be teeing off just before six o clock this evening, playing with Thomas Detry as well as Irish businessmen Gerry McManus and Dermot Desmond.
Seamus was tied for 20th at the HSBC Championship last weekend.
