Former Waterford boss John 'Jackson' Kiely believes that Stradbally stalwart Michael 'Brick' Walsh is one of the best dual players the county has ever produced. He has won ten senior medals with the Reds.

"He has a massive engine," Kiely told WLR's Lár Na Páirce show. "The mileage that he has clocked up for the club, let alone the county, over the years is phenomenal. He is one of these guys that you can always depend on to perform on the day. He always performs for Stradbally. He's one of the great dual players in the history of the county, there's no doubt about that. He has four All Star awards in hurling. If he had concentrated on football, he'd have probably got an All Star in that as well. Back in the early noughties, he was as good a midfielder as there was in the country. With the Waterford Under 21 team in 2003, he gave spectacular performances against Cork and a star studded Kerry side. I also recall a super performance against Roscommon in an All Ireland qualifier."

The 39 year old played a starring role for Stradbally in their two-point win over An Rinn last weekend. Kiely believes that the Reds will advance to the last eight this weekend. Listen back to the full preview of the Waterford SFC action from Friday's Lár Na Páirce.
