Former Waterford manager Derek McGrath says that full back Barry Coughlan has been one of Ballygunner's standout performers this season.
"He is beginning to get the credit that he hasn't got over the years. I think Austin Gleeson has been the only man that has been subjected to more lazy analysis than Barry Coughlan. He is playing so well. He was our fastest player when we were involved with Waterford. If you were setting up a match, people would go to the other corner! Not just to avoid his ability to defend but his speed, his reading of it and his manliness. If anyone wanted an example of a perfect tackle technique: when David Dempsey was going in on goal against Na Piarsaigh, Barry just stood him up and said 'you're not getting in here'. He's a proper man. Great to see him getting the credit he deserves. He's still capable of playing at the highest level."
Saturday's All Ireland club semi final Ballygunner versus St Thomas' will be our second George Corbett Skoda Big Match this weekend. Join Kieran O'Connor and Brian Flannery for live coverage from O'Moore Park at 7.15.
