The Waterford camogie team made it five wins from five in Division 1B this afternoon.
Sean Power's side ran out 3-16 to 0-10 victors over Down at a sunny Gracedieu.
Captain for the day Niamh Rockett scored 2-2 in the first half, three-time All Star Beth Carton finished with nine points while super sub Anne Corcoran got 1-1.
Hayleigh Acheson, Leah Sheridan, Niamh Murphy, Shauna Fitzgerald, Onelia Whelan and Natasha Dobbyn all made their first starts of the campaign. Two Rockett goals in three minutes gave Waterford a 2-8 to 0-6 half time advantage. On sixteen minutes, Carton found Rockett and she blasted the sliotar to the roof of the net. Two minutes later, she fired home again after another Carton assist. Carton finished the half with five points (four from play). Onelia Whelan also raised a white flag from a tight angle.
Carton added four more points before she was substituted on 46 minutes. Tara Power, Niamh Murphy and Natasha Dobbyn also split the posts. Seven minutes from time, substitute Anne Corcoran scrambled home Waterford's third goal.
