Ballygunner began their defence of the News & Star Cup with a 23 point dismissal of Dungarvan in the Fraher Field sunshine on Saturday evening (5-22 to 2-8).
Darragh O'Sullivan couldn't call on injured trio Philip Mahony, Dessie Hutchinson and Patrick Fitzgerald but they still led from start to finish. Pauric Mahony completed the hour as top scorer with nine points (five from play). Conor Tobin (2-1), Cormac Power (1-4), Kevin Mahony (1-3) and Aaron O'Neill (1-1) also tormented the Dungarvan backs. The team chasing eleven in a row could afford to shoot fifteen wides.
The Blues lost Patrick and John Curran to injury while Darragh Lyons was also unavailable. Michael Kiely was their main man with 2-6.
The Gunners are now 54 games unbeaten in the Waterford SHC.
