It was a day to remember for the Irish Team in Turin with a five-medal haul making its way home from the European Cross Country Championships.
The senior women's team claimed third place in so small part to twin sisters Eilish and Roisin Flanagan coming home in tandem in 11th and 12th place respectively. Great Britain were second with Germany taking the overall gold.

The men's Under 23 team were also in the podium places as they secured third with Efram Gidey putting in a fourth-place individual finish. Daragh McElhinney had led early on but finished fourth in the end.
Nick Griggs won silver in the men's U20 race with his tight second-placed finish while Dean Casey was third. Griggs was very narrowly beaten by Britain's Will Barnicoat on the line. The combined result means that the team also picked up silver overall.

The women's U23 team were seventh-place finishers. The best of the Irish was Danielle Donegan in 28th.
The only Waterford interest in the event this morning was Barry Keane of Waterford AC who ran in the senior men's race. The Butler University student was 33rd overall with the team securing eighth place overall. Peter Lynch was the first Irish runner home in 15th place.
